Knights’ James Sylvestre Wins Ray Dwyer Invitational!
2007 Second Team All-American James Sylvestre (Lincoln, RI) pulled away to win the Ray Dwyer Invitational on Monday, his first race of the season, on his home course at the CCRI Flanagan Campus in Lincoln. Sylvestre was one of the bright spots for a team that finished in third place in the Ray Dwyer Invititional. Sylvestere ran a solid race with a time of 28.50. His main competition was James Vance from Johnson & Wales Univiersity the two were neck and neck for the first two thirds of the race before Sylvestre broke away during the last mile and a half to and finished almost 30 seconds ahead of Vance.
Another bright spot for the Knights was Chris Pereira (Cumerland, RI) who finished in the top 10 placing ninth in a time of 31:43. In addition, the Knights had three runners finish in the top 20 including Joshua Santos (Pawtucket, RI) who finished in 13th place in a time of 33:06, Chris Allegretta (Warwick, RI) who finished 16th in a time of 33:56, and Juan Vigay (Providence, RI) came in 17th in a time of 35:29. Rounding out the Knights’ runners was Nate Cabana (Cumberland, RI) who finished 23rd in a time of 40:28. As a team the Knights finished in third place.
The Knights are back in action this weekend at home when they host the Tri-State Invitiational. The men’s race starts at 11:00 AM with the women’s race to start at 12noon.
