Pool Rules and Regulations

Pool Rules

• Eating, drinking, gum chewing, and smoking are not allowed in the pool area. Also, glass containers are not allowed.
• All persons 15 years of age and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
• Running on the deck and horseplay of any kind are not tolerated in the pool or pool area, e.g.; chicken fights, pushing people into the pool.
• Bathing suits must be worn by all. Cutoffs, gym shorts, leotards, t-shirts, and other articles of clothing absorb pool chemicals out of the water and are not permitted.
• Kickboards are for kicking laps in the designated lap lanes only. They are not permitted in the free swim area, and they may not be used as floats for children.
• Water wings, bubbles, and other flotation devices are not allowed.
• All non-swimmers must be accompanied by an adult swimmer in the pool area at all times.
• A swimmer cannot use fins or paddles when sharing a lane.
• Toys (such as beach balls and diving sticks) may not be brought into the pool during recreational swim.
• Shoes and sneakers must be taken off before walking on the pool deck.
• Baby carriages are not permitted on the pool deck.
• Soap showers must be taken by all before using the pool, especially by those coming from the patio with lotions on their bodies.
• Pool equipment and chemicals are to be handled by pool personnel only.
• Starting blocks may only be used during competitive swim practices.
• Lane lines are designed to separate lanes. They may not be hung on or abused in any way.
• The lifeguard stands are for lifeguards only.
• Adults take priority over children in designated lap lanes.
• All non-potty-trained children must wear a plastic diaper, with a bathing suit over the diaper.
• Swimming is not permitted without a lifeguard on duty.
• Profanity, fighting, and any other inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. Patrons should treat each other and the staff with courtesy and respect.
• If there are more than two lap swimmers sharing a lap lane, then laps should be swum in a circle.
• Pets are not allowed into the pool or surrounding pool area. (unless used for medical reasons)
• Swimming near the drains is potentially dangerous, and is therefore not permitted.
• Band-Aids should be removed before entering the pool.
• Diving is not permitted in the shallow end.
• Running and jumping into the water is not allowed.
• For your safety, please adhere to all lifeguard requests.

Diving Board Rules   

• The lifeguard is responsible for all diving board activities. Use of the diving board may be restricted by the lifeguard.
• All patrons using the diving board must be able to swim at least 15 yards on their own.
• The diving board may be used for diving, water sports, and water therapy (treading and running). For safety reasons, lifeguards will determine when and where these activities will take place, and patrons should always make a point of asking the lifeguard if they wish to participate in the aforementioned activities.
• Free swimming and lap swimming are prohibited in the diving board landing area. Hanging onto the sides, hanging out in the pool, and swimming to the bottom are also not allowed.
• Diving may be performed from the boards only. Diving off of the sides creates dangerous possibilities.
• Dives or jumps must be performed forward, off the front of the board, towards the middle of the pool. No back dives, inward dives, handstands, or cartwheels are allowed. Also, no running dives or jumps are allowed. Once a dive is performed, the diver must exit the pool by the nearest ladder.
• One dive may be performed at one time. No two divers may dive into the pool at the same time. The lifeguard will direct each dive.
• Only one person may be on the board at one time. The next person in line must wait on the deck, not on the steps or on the ladder.
• Only one bounce off of the board is allowed.
• Water balls may never be used with the boards and may only be used by patrons who actually want to play basketball or water polo. No shooting from boards or from the deck is permitted. Also, throwing the ball to someone jumping off the board is not allowed.
• The backboards’ and rims’ heights have been pre-set and may not be adjusted. No one may hang on or grab the rims, as this will cause them to tear.
• The fulcrums, which are the devices used to adjust the spring of the boards, have been pre-set and may not be adjusted during recreational diving.
• Swimming near the drains is potentially dangerous, and is therefore not permitted.

Pool Health Regulations    

• All persons are required to take a cleansing shower before entering the pool.
• No person with a communicable disease is allowed to use the pool.
• No bather shall wear a bathing suit that is unclean.
• No person with sores or other evidence of skin disease, or who is wearing a bandage or medical covering of any kind shall be allowed the use of the pool.
• No person suffering from a fever, cough, cold, inflammation of the eyes, nasal or ear discharges, or any communicable disease shall be allowed the use of the pool.
• No person shall spit in or in any way contaminate the pool, its floors, walkways, aisles, or dressing rooms.
• No glass containers shall be permitted in the pool or walkways around the pool.
• No person shall bring or throw into the pool any object that may in any way carry contamination or endanger the safety of bathers.

Sauna Health Regulations    

• Use sauna with a companion.
• Patrons must be at least 16 years old to be in the sauna. No one under the age of 16 is allowed in the spa room.
• Do not use while under the influence of alcohol, anticoagulants, antihistamines, vasoconstrictors, vasodilators, stimulants, hypnotics, narcotics, or tranquilizers.
• Elderly persons, pregnant women, and persons suffering from heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, or low blood pressure should not use this sauna until they consult with their physician.
• Observe a reasonable time limit (e.g. ten minutes), then shower, cool down, and, if desired, return for another brief stay. Long exposure may result in nausea, dizziness or fainting.
• The use of oils and body lotion by bathers is prohibited.
